Faux Wood Blinds, in detail
Bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and coastal homes are hard on window coverings. Faux wood blinds are built for exactly those rooms: a foam-core PVC slat that cannot swell, warp or grow mould, finished to look like painted timber.
Because the composite is lighter than solid wood, a 2 m wide blind stays easy to lift and puts less strain on the brackets. Colours are matched across slats, headrail and bottom rail, so the whole unit reads as one piece.

Measuring made simple
Faux wood blinds suit inside-recess fitting, but they are also the easiest product to mount outside the recess because the headrail is light and rigid.
Width
Three measurements across the recess — take the smallest.
Drop
Left, centre and right; take the longest.
Clearance
Allow 55 mm of depth for a 50 mm slat, 45 mm for 35 mm.

Looking after your faux wood blind
Maintenance
- Wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent — no special products needed.
- Rinse bathroom blinds monthly to stop soap film building on the slats.
- Do not use solvent-based cleaners or scouring pads.
- Check the tilt wand every few months and re-clip if it works loose.

Will faux wood blinds turn yellow?
Our slats use a UV-stabilised coating tested for 600 hours of accelerated sun. In normal residential use they keep their colour for well over a decade.
Are they heavy?
No — the foam core makes them around 30% lighter than solid wood at the same size, which is why they are popular for large sliding doors.
Can they be fitted above a hob?
Yes, provided there is at least 650 mm between the hob and the bottom rail and the blind is outside the direct steam path.
Do they come in a fire-rated version?
Yes, a B1 fire-retardant slat is available for hotels, offices and rental developments.
What is the widest single blind?
3000 mm. For wider openings we supply matched pairs on one headrail with a centre support bracket.
Is cordless available?
Yes, up to 2400 mm wide — certified child-safe and spring balanced.
